How does it work?

After two years of research and development in Europe, the EFI-X™ module was recently launched in 2008 with much excitement in the computer enthusiastic community. The small EFI-X™ device simply installs into an internal USB header on a generic desktop PC motherboard and allows users to install any EFI-based operating system such as Apple’s Mac OS X® v10.5 Leopard, Linux®, Solaris®, Windows XP® 64-bit, and Windows Vista® without the need for hacks, cracks or system modifications.

What’s the EFI-X™ module?

EFI-X™ is the world’s first and only BPU (Boot Processing Unit) on the market, and it is available on internal USB interface. It will easily install into the internal USB header of your motherboard. An extension cable is supplied with every EFI-X™.

EFI-X™ explores all the possibilities offered by the Intel EFI standard, and more. EFI (Extensible Firmware Interface) is a revolutionary standard to manage the booting process of next-generation PCs in a modular, interactive way. EFI standards allow the user to boot multiple partitions, with fully graphical interface and instant recognition of the peripherals (no need for software drivers).

EFI-X™ takes these standards to the next level. All EFI-X™ versions sport ASEFI, (Art Studios Extensible Firmware Interface) our proprietary customized and enhanced implementation of the new standards created by Intel. EFI-X™ crafts its magic by instantly recognizing and utilizing all the peripherals of your system, and by installing, selecting, booting  and using your favorite OS on the desired HDD, SDD or hardware RAID array.

All that’s needed to use the EFI-X™ module is a computer system based on the EFI-X™ Hardware Compatibility List (HCL), and you’re up and running. The user will be able to perform all operating system updates directly from the operating system manufacturer.

The EFI-X™ module allows installation of various operating system, regardless of whether the OS relies on the 25-year-old and antiquated BIOS or the more advanced EFI platform. From legacy BIOS operating systems like Windows XP to EFI-based setups like Mac OS v10.5 Leopard and Solaris; the EFI-X™ module handles them all. The process is seamless and non-intrusive. This means that there’s no emulation layer of any kind, no virtualization, and the host operating system interacts with your hardware natively and directly.

One of the most defining results of the EFI-X™'s support for EFI is that users are able to natively install an EFI-based operating system from an original factory DVD. Users are able to use standard off-the-shelf PC hardware components, like the Gigabyte GA-X48-DQ6 motherboard for example in conjunction with say an Intel Core 2 Quad processor (providing the components comply with our broad Hardware Compatibility List). The EFI-X™ module is not an OS X "enabler" but rather a device that allows users to choose between BIOS-based and EFI-based operating system at will.

What’s the press saying about the EFI-X™ module?

Many magazines and newspapers around the world are reviewing and praising the EFI-X™ module. Many free sample review units have been sent to different media outlets around the world.

Is it legal to use the EFI-X™ module?

There is no state or federal law against installing a specific operating system on a specific hardware. A software manufacturer’s EULA (End User License Agreement) is a private agreement between two parties (the manufacturer and the end user) and any violation of it could potentially, and privately, be enforced in a civil court of law by the two parties. Our EFI-X™ product doesn't violate any EULA since the product has no relationship whatsoever with any software manufacturer and is not sold together with any operating system on a desktop computer. The product is sold as a separate device that the end user installs himself in a few minutes along with an original copy of the desired OS (Windows XP 64-bit, Windows Vista, Linux, Solaris, or Mac OS X v10.5). The EFI-X™ module is not an OS X "enabler" but rather a device that allows users to choose between BIOS-based and EFI-based operating system at will. If there is any possible violation of a manufacturer’s EULA, is a private matter between the manufacturer’s and the end user. Read the product review by MacInTouch for a detailed analysis of these legal topics.

We don't encourage any resellers to create "clones" of any branded computer product since this could potentially violate the manufacturer’s EULA and open the doors to litigation between a reseller and the manufacturer. We don't condone the sale of machines that compete with any brand.

The main point of EFI-X™ is innovation and integration. We are the only one in the world to offer such a device with such technology, and we are happy about it and very happy about our heterogeneous fans coming from all possible IT worlds that understood and appreciated us and our unique philosophy. Resellers around the world market and sell the EFI-X™ module as a "freedom" device that allows an end user to install the operating system of his choice using EFI, the most advanced firmware (as opposed to the antiquated and limiting 25-year-old BIOS).

How do I install the EFI-X™ module?

It’s very simple to install the EFI-X™ module. All it takes is three easy steps:

  1. Step 1: Connect the EFI-X™ module to an internal USB port in your desktop PC.

  2. Step 2: Tell your BIOS to boot from the EFI-X™ module from now on.

  3. Step 3: Buy a legal copy of the operating system of your choice and install the DVD.
